Army marks 2021 WASA to promote social activity among personnel

Personnel of the Nigerian Army 81 Division have marked the 2021 West African Social Activities (WASA) at 192 Battalion, Owode Lagos.

WASA is an annual social event to give personnel of the Nigerian Army a home feeling and to remind them that they are not detached from their culture and traditions despite being away from their homelands.

General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Major General Lawrence Fejokwu commended the organisation of this year’s WASA and the current synergy between the military and other security agencies as well as the host community as envisaged by the Chief of Army Staff.

Admonishing the gathering the General Officer Commanding 81 Division Major General Lawrence Fejokwu said although the Army has done well in curbing insecurity so far, there is still room for improvement.

Special guest of honour at the event, Mr  Kolawale Lawal representing Yewa South Ipokia Federal constituency cordial working relations between his constituency and the military and urge Nigerians to support the military combat insecurity.

The event was witnessed by the Commander, 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Lander Saraso, Senior Officers from the military and paramilitary, traditional rulers, and others.

A variety of cultural displays and the inauguration of the renovated 192 Battalion Headquarters by the GOC were the highlights of the event.
