Police Operatives in Zamfara State have rescued 10 Kidnapped Victims including a One-year-old baby and arrested a notorious bandit in the State.
Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ayuba Elkana who made this known during a Press Conference at the Command Headquarters in Gusau, said the victims were rescued during a Gunduel with bandits who attacked Gada district in Bungudu local government area of the state in the early hours of today (Wednesday).
He explained that the bandits who arrived in the village in their large number, have killed the District head, 4 other residents and abducted others.
The Commissioner of Police revealed that, following an intelligence report, Police, Military and Vigilante blocked the exit road of the criminal, engaged them in heavy fire exchange, dispersed them and rescued the 10 Kidnapped victims.
He further paraded one notorious bandit, named Sani Mati A.K.A Mai ‘Yan-Mata aged 20 who arrested by police tactical operatives along Zurmi axis while trying to block the road for operation and a Phone snatcher, Halliru Ibrahim who was arrested in Gusau.
According to the CP, they recovered 1 AK47 Rifle, a Double Magazine with 3 rounds of live ammunition and an operational motorcycle.
During an interview with journalists, the arrested bandit who confessed to committing the crimes of Kidnapping and Cattle rustling said he can not account for the number of lives he killed adding ‘because they are too many.’
The CP noted that the rescued victims will be reunited with their families while the 2 arrested suspects will be prosecuted after investigation.
