A four-year-old boy Mustapha Dalhatu has drowned in a well at Kofar Dawanau in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Fire Service, SFS Saminu Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident said the agency received a distress call at about 4.55 p.m. from one Aminu Sani Shu’aibu that a young boy had accidentally felled into a well.
Saminu Abdullahi pointed out that on arrival the rescue team succeeded in retrieving the boy unconscious and was later confirmed dead by health officials.
He said the body of the deceased has been handed over to the ward head of Dawanau, Alhaji Musa Habibu.
Similarly, the state firefighters had quenched a fire outbreak at layin ‘Yan Robobi in Kofar Wambai Market in Kano Municipal local government area.
Narrating the incident the spokesman of the agency maintained that one shop was affected by the inferno.
He said no life was lost during the incident due to the prompt response of the Kano fire service.
The public relations officer charged the general public to maintain safety at all times, using fire and electric appliances with care and being more vigilant on children to avoid disasters.
