Humanitarian ministry partners UN on school feeding programme

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development is working with the United Nations World Food Programme towards strengthening the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme.

The Minister, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq made this known at a Joint Assessment Executive meeting on the School Feeding Programme.

She noted that the programme remains an important intervention of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari which addresses hunger, malnutrition, poverty, and increase school enrollment.

She added that  the technical support from the World Food Programme is timely and relevant to enable the Ministry to achieve its goal to sustain and support the needs of children, families, women and communities it target 

Country Director, World Food Programme, Ronald Sibanda said Nigeria is a good example showing where the government has taken the lead and invested resources and funding into the design and implementation of the programme.
