Retired customs boss regains freedom

Retired Deputy Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service who was kidnapped last Thursday in Kwara State has been released by his abductors.

The former Custom’s Boss who is also a fish farmer was abducted on his farm in Obate village in Asa Local Government Area of the state.

According to a close source of the retired Customs officer, the victim released on Monday night was said to be recuperating at a private hospital from experience suffered during the period of his abduction.

Although it was not clear how much was eventually paid as ransom, the source said the abductors had initially demanded ₦10 million which was later negotiated to ₦6 million.

Confirming the release of the farmer, Public Relations Officer of Kwara State Police Command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi Kwara said the command will give details on the development after contact with the victim has been established.
