The Federal Government is to utilise the Nigeria Postal Service facilities in aiding the services of data capturing agencies at the grassroots.
The Post Master General of the Federation, Dr Ismail Adebayo stated this at a media briefing to mark the Pan African Postal Union Day in Abuja.
Dr Adebayo said the Federal Government intends to leverage on the grassroots reach of the Agency as rural dwellers were critical to the success if National exercises such as census and National identification and driver license issuance.
The Post Master General said it was also enhancing financial inclusion of the grassroots as part of efforts in actualising the present administration’s Economic Growth and Recovery Programme, ERGP and Economic Sustainability Plan, ESP.
The Pan African Postal Union Day first marked in 1980 is meant to foster rural mobilisation and grassroots development in African nations while leveraging on the Postal sector.
