Defence Minister tasks new NDC commandant on capacity building

The Minister of Defence Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd) has charged the newly appointed Commandant National Defence College, Rear Admiral Murtala Bashir to discharge the herculean task of moving the College to a globally recognized training institute.

General Magashi gave the charge when he received the new Commandant during a courtesy in Abuja.

He urged the Commandant to justify his new appointment by working very hard to improve on the enviable pedigree of academic excellence and high professional trainings for which the college is well known regionally.

Defence Minister who is the Chairman Governing Board of the NDC, promised to support towards timely completion of the College’s Permanent site, located at Piwoyi, Abuja.

He also welcomed the the new idea for the award of Masters Degree Certificate to the participants by the institution as proposed by the new Commandant which he said should be brought to the Board for consideration.

Among specific areas of agenda setting for the new Commandant by the Defence Minister centered on the need to sustain the enviable records of satisfying the yawnings and aspirations for quality mentoring by the foreign participants.

The new NDC Commandant Rear Admiral Murtala Bashir thanked the Minister for granting him the desired audience to intimate him of the robust plans and proposals to move the College to the next level.

The Commandant who was accompanied by the College Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Keenam and Director Coordination, Brigadier General Oyinlola sought the permission of the Minister for the forthcoming retreat.

Rear Admiral Murtala Mormoni Bashir, a member of 38 Regular Course of the NDA, commissioned on 21st September 1991, assumed the Command of his new Area of Responsibility, AoR.

Rear Admiral Bashir who attended several Military and Civil courses and whose last appointment was Commandant Naval War College , Calabar is the 19th NDC boss in the annals of the Institution.
