Four suspected political thugs allegedly linked with Federal lawmaker Satomi Ahmed for assaulting a woman in Maiduguri.
The Borno State Police Command has paraded four suspected political thugs who attacked and brutalized one Fadila Abdulrahman at her restaurant in Maiduguri.
Briefing newsmen in the state capital, the Commissioner of Police Abdu Umar named the detained persons as: Bello Musa alias Al-Shabba; Nasiru Abubakar alias Mane; Mala Mohammed and Ali Shettima.
CP Umar said the suspects are allegedly linked to a Federal lawmaker, representing Jere Federal Constituency, Honourable Satomi Ahmed.
According to him, the thugs physically assaulted Fadila Abdulrahman for allegedly undermining Honourable Satomi on the social media platform.
Mr Umar expressed concern over the recent happening in the state, stressing that Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum had directed immediate investigation into the matter.
“This is an incident involving a lady which went viral on social media. It is a case of criminal conspiracy, criminal assault, illegal possession of arms, mischief, thuggery and theft of some political thugs,” CP Umar explained.
He assured the public that other suspects, who are still at large, would be trailed, investigated and prosecuted.
Reacting, a group under the aegis of Concerned Jere Progressive Group, expressed shock at the incident, and described the report on social media as “unsubstantiated claims” and “baseless”.
At a media briefing, Leader of the Group, Comrade Mustapha Kwali-Kwali, exonerated the Federal Lawmaker, saying some paid critics had taken to “their social media platforms” and posted the “doctored clip”.
