APC chieftain applauds NASS over passage of Electoral Act

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill, has described the passage of the Amended Electoral Act by the National Assembly as a watershed in the nation’s quest for sustainable democracy.

Prince Princewill, a former governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), in 2007 and of Labour Party in 2015 in Rivers State, said this at a press conference in Abuja.

He expressed optimism that the contents of the Bill were the elements needed for credible leadership recruitment and election in the country.

The APC chieftain warned the governing party against disregard for the principles of internal democracy, a factor which he stressed might count against the party in next year’s general election. Prince Princewill, who is himself a governorship hopeful, urged the party to prioritise the resolution of its internal crisis to avoid having a taste of it’s own medicine in 2023 general election.
