The independent National Electoral Commission INEC says preparations for the Feb 12th Area Council Elections in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT has reached its apex.
INEC chairman Professor Mahmoud Yakubu stated this today in Abuja when he visited the FCT INEC office.
Professor Yakubu said the configuration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BIVAS will end this week and the commission had trained technical support staff that would respond in case of any problem.
The INEC boss noted that sensitive materials have been customized according to the number of political parties participating in the polls.
He said that adequate transportation arrangements had been made for the distribution of materials on Election Day.
In an address, the FCT Resident Electoral Commission, REC, Alhaji Yahaya Bello explained that non sensitive materials have been deployed to the Area Council offices.
He also stressed that collection of Permanent Voter Cards that is ongoing and would end on the first week of next month.
According to him, adequate ad hoc staff had been employed and trained for the exercise.
Seventeen out of the eighteen registered political parties would participate in the election.
