Ekiti 2022: Bisi Kolawole wins PDP primary election

A Former Commissioner For Environment in Ekiti, Otunba Bisi Kolawole has been elected candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the June 18th Governorship Election in the State.

Otunba Kolawole, who was supported by the immediate past governor of the State, Ayodele Fayose, received 671 votes to defeat his closest rival, former governor Olusegun Oni, who polled330 votes.

Announcing the result of the Primary Election, Chairman of Ekiti PDP Electoral Committee and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, declared Otunba Kolawole the winner, having polled the highest number of lawful votes cast.

Governor Emmanuel appealed to the winner to embrace other contestants and seek their support ahead of the governorship poll.

Reacting, Otunba Kolawole appreciated all PDP members in the state and promised to reach out to other contestants, saying their support would give the party victory come election-day.

On his part, one of the defeated aspirants, Chief Oni, who equally Congratulated the winner, said the process was peaceful.

Meanwhile, before the Commencement of the Primary Election, a Lawmaker representing Ekiti South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Biodun Olujimi, had withdrawn from the contest on the allegation that the list of the delegates had been doctored.

Thirteen aspirants contested the election, including the aggrieved Senator Olujimi.
