The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the award of over N40 billion contract for the construction of phase two of the Ikot-Ekpene-Aba to Owerri Dualisation road.
The Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, who stood in for the Minister of Works, said the project would be completed in 30 months.
Also approved by FEC is the construction of the Offa Bypass Road phase 2 in Offa local government area of Kwara State, at over N4 billion, to be completed in 12 months.
The Minister of Works and Housing had requested the approval of 15 projects, roads and bridges, all of which were approved.
Accordingly, approval was given for the revised estimated cost of the rehabilitation of the Alesi-Ugep Road section in Cross River State.
According to the presentation, the initial cost was N11.221 billion, now valued at N14.74 billion, with additional completion of six months.
Eleven other roads approved by FEC are spread across the various geopolitical regions of the country.
Similarly, FEC has given the FCT administration approval to award over 5 billion Naira contract for the completion of the road called Mpape to Galuyi to Shere in Bwari Area Council, to be completed within 18 months.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Muhammad Bello explained that the road, when completed, would allow the administration to move settlements in two phases.
The first phase, according to him, will be to move the seven communities of Utako, Maje, Mabushi, Jabi Samuel, Jabi Yakubu, Panda, and Zilu to the new area.
