The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has trained over sixty children in the Federal Capital Territory FCT, on how to effectively fight and put under control small fire during emergency.
The training was supervised by the Acting Controller General of Fire, CGF, Mr Samson Karebo, at the FFS headquarters in Abuja, and had in attendance children from different schools in the Territory.
Mr Karebo said the aim of the training was to impact the knowledge of firefighting on the children as first hand volunteer responders in small fire emergencies.
He disclosed that plans were underway to extend the training and sensitization to primary and secondary schools across the country.
Mr Karebo said the service would collaborate with the Ministry of Education to include fire safety studies in the school curriculum.
One of the participants, 13 years old Kaylah Koko said the training has scaled up her the knowledge on how to prevent fire outbreaks.
