CSOs, NASS partner on legislative accountability

A coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSO) has called for a collaboration with the National Assembly to promote legislative accountability for the common good of Nigerians.

Executive Director, Fix Politics Nigeria, Mr Anthony Ubani at a press conference on the initiative at the National Assembly in Abuja said, constructive engagement with the National Assembly can result in productive partnership in the interest of Nigeria.

Mr Ubani who described legislative accountability and healthy partnership with CSOs as key to good governance said the coalition will continue to work towards achieving such for the development of the country.

On the specific objectives of the coalition, Mr Ubani said it will be cultivating and sustaining a cohort of performance driven and reform minded legislators who can partner with the civil society on critical governance themes.

The coalition commended the mid-term report of the members of the 9th National Assembly conducted by Order-Paper Nigeria one of the CSOs in the coalition saying that it had engendered a productive partnership between the legislature and the CSOs.

The Coalition is comprised of twelve Civil Society Organisations CSOs.
