Katsina State Government has reiterated its commitment towards supporting the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Katsina State Council to achieve its set objectives.
The state Governor, Aminu Bello Masari stated this during the commissioning of a recreational and sports complex constructed by the Union at its state secretariat in Katsina.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Home Affairs, Abdulkarim Sirika said the state government has a very good cordial relation with the journalists in the state and gives priority to their welfare.
Governor Masari noted that no government can run without journalists as they are the bridge between it and the people.
He called on the journalists in the state to exhibit professionalism in their reportage.

Earlier the National President of the Union, Comrade Chris Isiguzo who appreciated the efforts of the State Council of the NUJ, described the project as the first of its kind in the country.
He said the sporting complex will provide a conducive working environment for journalists in the state to refresh themselves after work.
Mr Isiguzo also appreciated the good relationship between the union and the state government and assured the readiness of the National Secretariat to continue supporting the state council.
The Chairman of the occasion the Waziri of Katsina, Professor Sani Abubakar Lugga represented by the Kanwan Katsina district head of Katare, Alh Usman Bello Kankara called on the members of the NUJ to make profer utilization of the complex.
The State Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Tukur DanAli stated that the projects were constructed through assistance from the state government.
He requested the state government to provide a vehicle to the Union.
During the occasion, a mosque located at the NUJ Secretariat was donated to the community of the area after being renovated by the Union.
