Kwara govt sues for peace over Hijab crisis

The Kwara State Government has urged the aggrieved parties in the crisis over Hijab usage in Ijagbo Baptist High school to embrace peace and respect the government’s lawful directive.

Secretary to the State Government, Professor Mamman Jibril made the call when he led a government delegation to persuade the people of the community in Ijagbo, Oyun local government area of the state.

Professor Jibril commiserated with the people over the ensuing violence at the Oyun Baptist High School Ijagbo in which one person died and several others sustained varying degrees of injury.

He advised the community against carrying out reprisal attacks, which, according to him, will only lead to a cycle of violence and damage to the economy of the area.

Professor Jibril said the crisis could have been averted if those involved had obeyed the rules and regulations in Kwara State public schools on the use of Hijab for willing Muslim students.

Responding on behalf of the Onijagbo community, the Olora of Ijagbo, High Chief Mudashir Ajiboye said the leaders would continue to prevail on their subjects to ensure peaceful coexistence.
