The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU have been urged to explore the option of positive compromises and come to an amicable resolution of the current trade dispute between them.
The member representing Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Anayo Edwin-Nwoñu who made the call in a statement advised the Federal Government to take concrete steps or actions to ensure proper funding of the Nation’s education sector.
The lawmaker, however, called on ASUU to take cognizance of the ailing economy of the country, which has adversely reduced the capacity of the federal government to cater for so many national needs.
According to Mr Edwin-Nwoñu In as much as the grievances and demands of ASUU are genuine; and the Federal Government might have been wary of the capital intensity of the demands.
He, therefore, advocated the middle-road approach for parties to the dispute to make necessary concessions and resolve the trade dispute to enable youths to resume their studies.
