Oando, Duke Oil deny wrongdoing over adulterated petrol

Two more companies; Oando PLC and Duke oil on Wednesday appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Downstream to explain their roles in the said importation of adulterated fuel into the country and have denied any wrongdoing.

They stated this while submitting all documents relating to the alleged imported adulterated fuel.

Chief Operating Officer, Oando Plc Mr Effanga Effanga said the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) cargo they supplied was online with all government contractual specifications, he explained that the current spectrum protocol does not include testing for methanol content.

This according to him was why the methanol was not detected by the NNPC quality inspectors.

On his part, Managing Director Duke Oil, Lawal Sade stated that the company has quarantined the product it imported to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.

A Member of the committee from Oyo State, Stanley Olajide however picked holes in the claims that the contractors followed all due process.

The committee adjourned sitting promising to invite both men on a date yet to be announced after a thorough study of the documents presented.
