President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, to collaborate with the World Medical Association, WMA, to develop new strategies for combating diseases that threaten humanity.
He made the call during a reception dinner in Abuja to congratulate the first West African physician to be elected president of the World Medical Association.
Dr Osahon Enabulele is a Nigerian and the first African WMA president since its foundation in 1947.
President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, expressed confidence that the feat would result in human capital development and quality healthcare for the country.
He challenged medical professionals to strive for self-improvement in order to be assets to the world over.
Professor Innocent Ujah, NMA urged Dr Enabulele to use his position to foster national and international collaboration.
Dr Osahon Enebulele, expressed gratitude and pledged to use his position for the benefit of humanity.
