In Kano State, a head-on collision has claimed the lives of 12 people in Tsamawa village, Garun Malam Local Government Area.

According to Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, the accident triggered a fire that burned the vehicle and its occupants beyond recognition.

According to him, the two commercial vehicles involved were a hiace bus transporting 11 passengers from Zaria to Kano and a J5 transporting passengers from Kano to Kaduna.

Due to the effects of the fire, the plate numbers of the vehicles and victims have not been identified as of the time of filing this report.

Mr Abdullahi stated that non-compliance with traffic regulations was thought to be a major contributing factor to the accident.

He asked relatives of individuals who drove on that road to call the State Fire Service in order to identify the victims.
