NBS partner Aig Imokhuede Foundation on Public Sector Index

The National Bureau of Statistics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede Foundation for the development of a Public Sector Performance Index.

The Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr. Simon Harry who signed on behalf of the NBS said the MOU was in furtherance of its mandate of forging partnerships that will improve the quality and reliability of data produced in the country.

He attributed the underdevelopment in the country partly to underfunding of data production as well as poor usage of available data and praised the Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede Foundation for offering to build capacity in the Public sector.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Foundation, Ofovwe Aig-Imokhuede said the Public Sector Index was being undertaken in conjunction with the Nigeria Economic Summit Group to assess the performance of Public Sector entities and measure their impact on the lives of citizens.

The Chairman of the Foundation, Mr. Aig Imokhuede said it would also embark on the training of top-level managers in the Public Service as a way of transforming the sector and making it result-oriented.

Another goal of the Public Sector Index is to promote citizen engagement through easy-to-understand data on public institutions.
