Kebbi Police command says bandits have again killed 4 policemen and 1 civilian in an attack at a tomato processing company at Gafara village in Ngaski local government area of the state.
A few days ago, bandits killed soldiers and some vigilante group members at the Zuru axis of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Nafiu Abubakar said the Armed bandits, who were about 500-strong and riding on motorcycles, attacked the company around 10AM on Tuesday.
He said there were casualties on both sides, although he could not ascertain the number of casualties on the side of the bandits.
DSP Abubakar said relative calm has returned to the area as the command deployed more policemen to the area.
An eyewitness told Radio Nigeria that the bandits, who were in their hundreds, attacked the company, but only the workers were evacuated.
He also claimed that the bandits had killed three civilians on their way to the company, and on reaching the complex, they engaged the policemen on duty in a fire-fight.
He added that the bandits had earlier sent a letter to the company, stating their intention to Kidnap the foreign workers.
