Military seeks stronger partnership with FRCN

The Nigerian Military wants the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN to intensify its efforts towards disseminating its activities.

The Director, Defence Information, Major General Jimmy Akpor made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the FRCN, Dr Mansur Liman at the Radio House, Abuja.

While acknowledging the vital role media play in society, Major General Jimmy said the military deemed it necessary to sustain a stronger collaboration with FRCN.

”Based on the importance of information dissemination, the role of the media can never be over-emphasized and the military acknowledges the great role FRCN plays in informing, educating, and enlighting society, he said.

Major General Jimmy assured that the military was competent enough to protect the nation’s territorial borders.

He, therefore, urged the corporation to help create a positive image of the armed forces.

The Director-General, FRCN Dr Mansur Liman promised that the cooperation would sustain it support to the Nigeria Military.

Dr Mansur also appreciated the tremendous job the armed forces is doing in defending the nation’s territorial borders.

He gave an assurance that FRCN would sustain timely and objective reportage of the military activities.

Similarly, the Management of Radio Benue wants to collaborate with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, to achieve balance coverage and reportage of political activities in the forthcoming election.

The Direct General of Radio Benue, Dr Charles Iornumbe made the request when led management of the station on a visit to the Director-General of the FRCN, Dr Mansur Liman in Abuja.

Dr Iornumbe also requested a slot for a staff of Radio Benue annually in the FRCN National Broadcast Academy, Lagos, to improve the professionalism of the staff.

“FRCN has really come a long way today and my station, Radio Benue Makurdi is proud to have benefitted immensely from the Corporation in terms of staff training much as we had in the past impact on it in the area of manpower development. I wish to use this occasion to appeal that FRCN approves one slot to Radio Benue for the training of its staff at the FRCN Academy at least yearly. 

Responding, the Director-General of FRCN, Dr Liman pledged continued collaboration with Radio Benue, to enhance professional broadcasting.

“We will continue to collaborate with Radio BENUE to produce the best programs for the people of Benue state. The management of FRCN will also have a meeting with that Radio Benue to find more ways to help in Training the staffs so that more than one staff can benefit from it, he said

The management of Radio Benue also undertook a facility tour of the FRCN.
