Wike declares for 2023 presidency

The Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike yesterday in Benue State declared his intention to contest the 2023 Presidential election under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Governor Wike made his intention known when he consulted statutory national delegates comprising, Governor Samuel Ortom and his Deputy, national assembly members, state executive members of the party and others.

He stated that having performed very well as Governor of Rivers State; he believes he has the capacity to develop the country from all aspects, especially tackling the security challenges.

The Rivers State Governor also said he would solve the infrastructure problems of the country and initiate policies that would take many Nigerians out of poverty.

Mr. Wike maintained that he deserves the presidential ticket of the PDP more than any other aspirant jostling for it because he was the only one that has not left the party since 1998 and has worked for its stability.

According to the Rivers State Governor, it would be unfair for the party to give the presidential ticket to people who were part of making the APC Government that has crippled Nigeria and urged the delegates to give him their votes.

Governor Samuel Ortom described Governor Wike as a detribalize Nigerian who is passionate about the development, peace and unity of the country and assured that Benue delegates will stand with him on the day of the convention.

The Rivers State Governor donated two hundred million naira each to the Katsina Ala and High Level main markets that were recently razed by fire.
