Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State yesterday donated ₦400,000,000 to victims of the recent fire disasters at the Katsina Ala and High Level main market.
The governor announced the donation during a meeting with members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) statutory delegates at Government House, Makurdi.
He stated that the gesture was to assist the traders who lost their good in the inferno to stand on their feet again, stressing that ₦200,000,000 should be given to each of the markets.
The Rivers State Governor who said the visit was also to consult the delegates on his ambition to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the PDP.
Mr Wike told the delegates that with his performance as governor, he was positive in his capacity to develop the nation, especially takling insecurity and economic challenges.
Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom expressed appreciation to Governor Wike for his huge donations to the internally displaced persons and also to the traders.
Governor Ortom also said Wike was a detribalise Nigerian who was passionate about the development, peace and unity of the country and assured that Benue delegates will stand with him on the day of the convention.
