Algeria demands replay with Cameroon citing referee’s error

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon going to the world Cup for a record 8th time.

The Algeria Football Federation has requested a replay of the Desert Foxes 2022 World Cup Playoffs return leg against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, citing referees’ errors in officiating.

According to the Algeria FA, Gambia referee, Bakary Gassama made a mistake in ruling out Algeria’s first goal which was supposed to stand.

Algeria’s two goals were cancelled by the Gambia Referee in the return fixture which took place in Blida, Algeria.

A report by the Algerian Media says FIFA President has announced the investigation into the Algeria-Cameroun match after receiving a report from the German referee in charge of the VAR room.

Having lost 0-1 in Douala, Cameroon scored late to make it 2-2 on aggregate, and booked their place in Qatar 2022 on the away goal rule.
