NSA calls for Cybersecurity Sensitization for government agencies

The National Security Adviser, NSA, Retired Major-General Babagana Monguno has Directed Cybercrime Advisory Council to embarked on additional Cybersecurity Sensitization against destructive and threatening cyber attacks for all relevant Government Agencies and stakeholders across the country.

General Monguno gave the Directive during the 9th meeting of the cyber crime Advisory Council and launching of Cybersecurity Toolkits for MSME’s held in Abuja .

The National Security Adviser, who chaired the 9th meeting of the council equally charged all relevant Agencies on cyber- security resilience and preparedness.

A statement by the Head strategic Communication, office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, Mallam Zakari Usman said the Cybercrime Advisory Council meeting aims at updating members on the activities and events since the 8th session of the council in compliance with the National Cyber security policy and strategy, (NCPS) 2021 and the provisions of the cybercrimes prohibition, prevention Act, 2015.

The statement further notes that the council during the meeting briefed members on the successful completion of seven sectors – based sensitization workshops by ONSA between September to December, 2021 and informed stakeholders of two additional sector- based sensitization workshops on the implementation of the National Cybersecurity policy and strategy for critical Organizations scheduled between May to June this year.

According to the statement the council was equally briefed on the launching of Cybersecurity Toolkits for micro Small and medium Enterprises (MSME’S) by ONSA in collaboration with United kingdom foreign, commonwealth and development office (FCDO) aimed at protecting MSME’S from cyber threats. On the protection plan for critical National information infrastructure, the council was fully intimated on the measures put in place to protect Telecommunications Assets and ongoing efforts to sensitise states Governments on emerging threats.

The National security adviser, emphasized the need for effective collaboration, capacity building, information sharing to ensure a safe and resilient cyber ecosystem for the country.
