Sylvester Oromoni Inquest: Dowen nurse speaks

The second nurse of Dowen College Nurse, Kafayat Usman, says she has no physical contact with the late 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni Jnr., who was allegedly beaten up by some senior students.

Mrs Usman, who joined the school on September 4, 2021, told the Coroner’s Court that she worked as a full-time nurse.

Testifying before an Ikeja Coroner’s Court, the Nurse, while responding to questions from the Coroner, Mr Mikhail Kadiri, said she did not come in contact with the deceased in the course of her work.

During cross-examination by the counsel to the Oromoni’s family, led by Mr A.E. Efole, the witness, who said she was not aware that the deceased was treated sometimes in April 2021, told the court that the sick school bay was not opened on weekends.

She confirmed to the court that Ms Omobola Kayode was her senior and would be surprised to hear that she said they were of equal rank.

The Coroner adjourned proceedings till the next day, April 5, to continue the hearing.
