President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that the perpetrators of the recent killings in Plateau state should not be allowed to evade justice.

Gunmen attacked four villages in Kanam LGA, killing an unconfirmed number of people.

Residents reported that more than 80 people were killed in the weekend attacks.

The attack on the communities came hours after the wife and daughter of the Plateau Commissioner for environment were abducted.

According to Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesman, Buhari condemned the attacks and urged residents of the state to cooperate with security agencies in identifying the perpetrators.

A statement on Tuesday said that President Buhari ordered law enforcement to work hard with the state government to bring the situation under control.

He expressed condolences over what he called a terrorist incident, saying the first priority is that peace must return to the state and the entire country at all costs.
