Report from Benue state says a section of the Makurdi branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria has been engulfed by fire.
The fire incident, which started around 7am today, was immediately put out by men of the Federal Fire Service who were alerted by security men on duty.
The rapid response, according to reports, reduced the magnitude of destruction in the facility.
One source said the blaze started from the bank’s generating house, adding that it was most likely caused by a technical fault.
Benue State police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, who confirmed the incident, said a detachment of police personnel was sent to provide security in and around the bank.
