Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has sworn in the newly appointed Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Alhaji Jaji Abdulganiyu in Abuja.
Mr Aregbesola noted that President Muhammadu Buhari had paid keen interest in the Ministry and thus supported agencies under its jurisdiction to give it a facelift with the upgrade of infrastructure across the Federation to include 44 firefighting engines, 15 water tankers, 15 rapid intervention fire engines and 20 basic life support ambulances.
Adding that the Fire Service was provided with 106 modern firefighting and 17 firefighting officers were sent to Belarus for an advanced trainer-training course.
He said that N10.4 billion has been spent on the upgrade of fire infrastructure across the country to address the increasing fire emergencies for effective service delivery.
The Minister charged the new Fire boss to strive to surpass the achievements of his predecessor with a view to taking the organisation to a greater height.
The New Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Alhaji Jaji Abdulganiyu promised to hit the ground running, to ensure a robust partnership in the area of Public-Private Partnership to further develop the nation’s safety industry.
