FFS marks International Fire Fighters’ Day

The Controller General, CG, of the Federal Fire Service, FFS, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Jaji has reassured Nigerians of the service’s commitment to prompt and effective response to emergencies.

Alhaji Abdulganiyu made the remark at an event to mark this year’s International Fire Fighters’ Day in Abuja.

While addressing fire officers the CG said that the FFS recognized their selflessness hence the need to pay homage to them for their sacrifices.

He further stressed that the high-risk firefighters were exposed in the course of their duty made it important for government to prioritize officers’ welfare which includes constant training and provision of equipment to help them deliver on their mandate of saving the lives of citizens and protecting their property from infernos.

He added that the service will increase its public enlightenment drive to equip more Nigerians with basic knowledge of fire prevention and what to do in case of emergencies.

The national colour was hoisted half-mast as a mark of honour to the heroes who paid the supreme price trying to save the lives of their fellow countrymen.
