Reps intervenes in airlines crises

Airline operators have resolved to continue operations following the intervention of the leadership of the House of Representatives at a stakeholders meeting in Abuja.

The airline operators had earlier threatened to shut down operations following the hike in the price of aviation fuel in the country.

Addressing the stakeholders the speaker, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila said all possible means must be adopted to avert the shut down of aviation sector given its importance to the nations security and economy.

Mr Gbajabiamila, stated that the airline operators should also be given waivers to enable them float companies to import aviation fuel as part of a long term solution to the challenges in the sector.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefele also stressed the need to look into the pricing structure adopted by the marketers to ensure fairness on the operators.
