Over 140 health Professionals have been inducted into the Society for Scientists in Infectious Diseases, SSID, to tackle emerging and re-emerging diseases that poses a threat to the health of Nigerians in the country.
At the inauguration and investiture of the members of SSID, in Abuja, The President of the Society, Dr Toyosi Raheem said their role would be to provide prompt and precise interventions on diagnostics and causes of Infectious diseases to improve the health of Nigerians.
The National President of the Association of Medical and Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Professor James Damen, charged the new Society with meaningful programs and policies that will chart a new course for the Health Sector.
He also harped on the need for the establishment of more medical research centers that will be helpful in solving health problems in the country.
Some inductees, who spoke to Radio Nigeria, expressed excitement about the inauguration of the SSID and promised to contribute their quota to the development of the Health Sector.
The high point of the occasion was the induction of the over one hundred and forty members into the Society.
