New President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the new President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.

The Federal Supreme Council elected Sheikh bin Zayed President to succeed his half-brother, the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.

In a goodwill message, President Buhari said he knew that stepping into the shoes of the President was no easy task, because of his vast experience and visionary skills, saying however that he is confident that his successor is equally well equipped for the task ahead.

He told the new President that his predecessor made a mark in the impressive transformation of the UAE, making it a vast business and tourist attraction, building infrastructure, and creating one of the best living standards in the world, and urged him to build on his feat.

President Buhari also said Nigeria would look forward to greater co-operation with the UAE, which has tremendously helped Nigeria in tracking down illegal assets and tracing terrorist funds, adding that Dubai is a reliable partner for the progress of Nigeria.

He said he was confident that under the new leader, such co-operation would grow even bigger and stronger.

He wished President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Allah’s guidance and wisdom in the discharge of the enormous responsibility ahead.
