Flying Eagles qualify to feature at Egypt-2023 tourney

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have defeated regional rivals, the Young Squirrels of Benin Republic 3-1 in the final of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B competition.

The nation’s national Under-20 team achieved the feat in the finals of the competition at the Stade General Seyni Kountche on Friday night.

Tolu Ojo bagged a brace for the Flying Eagles in the keenly contested encounter, while Ibrahim Muhammad scored the other goal.

Ojo was eventually named ‘man of the match’ after the match.

The Flying Eagles have therefore qualified to compete at the Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt next year.

Flying Eagles coach, Ladan Bosso, now on his third stint with the Under-20 national team, failed to grab the African Youth Championship ticket in 2020.

His current team has, however, banished the memory of the past as they look to qualify for the World Youth Championship in Indonesia.
