WHO calls for increased physical activities to curb diseases

The World Health Organization, WHO has attributed the high burden of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and other chronic ones to lack of physical activities.

The WHO, Country representative, Dr Walter Mulumbo Kazadi made this known at the third edition of the global “Walk the Talk” health challenge exercise in the FCT metropolis.

The event was organized by WHO Nigeria in partnership with the Ministry of Health and partners.

The Health for All Challenge event is to raise awareness on health issues and the need for exercises that promote a healthy lifestyle.

Dr Walter Mulumbo said ‘’the Walk the Talk’’ movement is an example of practicing the advice WHO gives to the world to promote health.

He explained that ‘’the Walk the Talk’’ initiative is not a fitness competition but an opportunity to develop a healthy lifestyle.

The WHO counter representative said the focus of this year’s world health day is health for peace and peace for health.
