Three bodies have been recovered from the rubble of the four-storey building that collapsed on Saturday evening in Lagos.
The building is located on No. 4 Alayaki Lane, Freeman Street on Lagos Island.
The Director-General, Lagos state Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said in a statement that five victims were also rescued.
According to him, the agency responded to the incident which was already in violation of building safety protocols.
He said it had been discovered that the building had been captured by the LASBCA District Office and served with all Statutory Notices, Sealed at District and Central Enforcement Level.
Dr Oke- Osayintolu also hinted that further investigation revealed that the developer had continued clandestine operations mostly at night and at the weekends.
The The LASEMA boss added that as at midnight, the search and rescue operation had reached ground zero.
