Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Dr Ibrahim Oloriegbe says the newly signed National Health Insurance Authority Act by President Muhammadu Buhari will lead the country into achieving the Universal Health Coverage.
Senator Oloriegbe stated this in Abuja at a press conference on the new Act.
He said the Act which seeks to address out-of-pocket expenses by over 70% of Nigerians was conceived since 2006.
The chairman who was the sponsor of the bill described the achievement as a ‘dream come true’.
The lawmaker who said the Act makes it compulsory for all Nigerians to be on health insurance cover, noted that cases of deaths and morbidity would be reduced in the country.
