Nigeria, Ethiopia to hold Joint Ministerial Commission meeting

Nigeria and Ethiopia have concluded arrangements to hold a Joint Ministerial Commission meeting in Addis Ababa next month to discuss various areas of bilateral relationship and exchange perspectives on a range of international issues of mutual interest.

President Buhari and the visiting Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Dr Abiy Ahmed, took the decision in Abuja.

During the visit, Prime Minister Abiy was treated to a presidential lunch, which was attended by the First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari and Ethiopian First Lady, Zinash Tayachew.

A major outcome of the visit is the desire of both countries to take concrete steps to expand bilateral relations in key areas, including economy, trade, science and technology, and solid minerals.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Victor Adeleke, had told journalists that Prime Minister Abiy had always taken Nigeria as one of the pillars in Africa and a strong country in stabilising democracy on the continent.
