Former People’s Democratic Party, PDP, presidential aspirant Peter Obi has joined the Labour Party.
On March 20, Obi withdrew his PDP membership in a letter to the party’s national chairman; less than three days before the presidential primaries, without giving any reason.
“I thank all Nigerians, especially our youths, who have joined me in the task of taking back and reuniting Nigeria,” he said on Twitter on Friday, announcing his new party.
On social media, a poster portraying him as president with Rabiu Kwakwaso as his running mate has surfaced, with many speculating that the two could pair up for the country’s highest office.
