The Kwara State Police Command say it has launched an investigation into 26 officers and men for alleged harassment, intimidation, and extortion.
Those affected were assigned to anti-cultist and anti-cybercrime units, according to a statement from the Command’s spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi.
He said all of the officers and men have been redeployed from the units pending the results of the investigation into their levels of culpability.
Okasanmi distanced the command from references to proceeds of crime made by the men on the ground, to senior officers and urged residents of the State not to be afraid to report unlawful activities of police in their communities with facts and proven evidence.
