Sleepy driver kills one in Anambra

A fatal road traffic crash that occurred on Tuesday along Ihialla-Owerri road in Anambra state has claimed one life.

The crash involved 22 people comprising 17 male adults and 5 female adults.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Margaret Onabe, 4 men were injured.

She said the cause of the crash was attributed to fatigue and loss of control by a driver.

According to her, one of the passengers said the driver was tired, slept off while driving and lost control, before hitting the vehicle.

The Image Maker explained that the crash was between two vehicles, an unidentified driver of a white Zhongtong Luxurious Bus with registration number: NNE423XB and an unknown vehicle.

Onabe said the injured victims had been taken to a hospital in Ihialla and the dead victim deposited at the same hospital morgue by the FRSC rescue team from RS5.34 Ihialla Unit Command.
