Nineteen suspected internet fraudsters arrested in Kogi

The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a serving Corps member and 18 other suspected internet fraudsters in an operation in Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital.

A statement by the Head of Public Affairs of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren said the suspects were arrested at their hideouts by the operatives of the anti-graft agency.

He said: “The suspects were smoked out of their hideouts by the eagle-eyed operatives of the EFCC following credible intelligence on their fraudulent activities.”

According to Mr Uwujaren, the suspects include a serving corps member in the State, Adamu Shuaibu, and 18 others.

He said upon arrest, the following items were recovered from the suspects: a Lexus car, huge sum of money suspected to be proceeds of illegal activities, different brands of phones, laptops and several other “incriminating materials”.

Mr Uwujaren added that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
