Bandits abduct 80 people in Katsina

Armed bandits have abducted at least 80 people from Faru village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Confirming the incident to Radio Nigeria, Chairman of the Local Government council, Alhaji Bashir Sabi’u revealed that among the abducted were dozens of women, children and the elderly.

Alhaji Sabi’u claimed that over 200 bandits invaded the town, located along the Katsina-Niger Republic border, where they vandalised shops, food stores and other valuable property.

He said it was regrettable that at present, about 2,000 people displaced by that attack were taking refuge in Jibia and Magama towns.

It is on record that two other border towns have been attacked by bandits in the last two weeks, resulting in the abduction of five people and displacement of several others.
