Babashehu Ahmed assumes office as PCN Registrar

The new Registrar, Pharmacy Council of Nigeria,  PCN,  Mr. Babashehu Ahmed has urged the staff of the PCN to prioritise improved pharmaceutical practice in the country.

Mr  Ahmed who stated this while taking over the baton of leadership of the council also urged the staff to put the system first in all their dealings,  leaving footprints that will serve as a  reference point in the Pharmaceutical industry. 

Mr Ahmed promised to sustain the legacies of his predecessor which include repositioning the Registry for effective service delivery, and institutionalizing good Pharmaceutical practice in the country.

Delivering his handover speech, the immediate past Registrar of the PCN, Dr Elijah Mohammed said he leveraged his private sector experience to bear on his eight years as the registrar of PCN. 

With the volume of registration of Pharmacy outlets, Pharmacy  representatives and Patent and proprietary Medicine Vendors, PPMVs,  to be embarked upon by the Council, Dr. Elijah  Mohammed called for unity of purpose among the staff of PCN to enable the Vision come to reality.

Dr  Mohammed noted that he was leaving behind a functioning and effective registry,  and urged the staff to cooperate with the new Registrar to surpass his achievements.

In a remark, the Chairman Governing Council of the PCN. Professor Ahmed Mora, who presided over the handover ceremony, commended  Dr. Elijah Mohammed for improving the service delivery of the Council with innovative programmes and initiatives towards addressing the chaotic drug distribution in the country.

Prof Mora stated that he was particularly proud of Dr Elijah  Mohammed for mentoring the new Registrar and for creating a  conducive environment for optimum performance of the entire staff.

The appointment of Mr. Babashehu Ahmed as the Registrar of the PCN was officially announced on the  7  of April, this year, during a special meeting of Governing Council members of the PCN, at the council’s head office. Idu, Abuja.

The Council Chairman, Prof. Ahmed Mora, stated this in an interview with newsmen confirming the appointment of Mr Babashehu  Ahmed as the new Registrar PCN.
