Fifteen persons have been arrested in Niger state for violating the law on illegal slaughter of animals in Minna metropolis.
They were arrested during an enforcement drive by the Taskforce on the implementation of the law.
Permanent Secretary Niger state Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Dr Ibrahim Garba Musa who stated this in Minna the state capital also reminded Nigerlites that the law prohibiting illegal slaughter of animals in Minna metropolis is still inforce.
Dr Ibrahim Garba Musa however explained that the suspects arrested will be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others planning to engage in the ugly act.
The Permanent Secretary further expressed dismay over the indiscriminate slaughter of animals in affected area stressing that part of the ministry’s mandate is to ensure that wholesome meat is being served to people in Minna metropolis.
