The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of electoral materials for tomorrow’s governorship election in Ekiti State.
Our Correspondent kayode Oyedare, who is covering the election, reports that the materials were distributed at INEC State office in Ado-Ekiti in the presence of journalists, representatives of political parties and security agents to the electoral officers across the 16 local government areas of the state.
The Ekiti State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Adeniran Tella, who distributed the materials, said electoral officers would take them to their local government areas where they would be sent to Registration Area Centers (RACs) and then to the polling units on Saturday morning.
Dr Tella assured voters that there would be no late arrival of materials and polling officers to polling units on election day.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner said ballot papers were coded in different colours for each local government to prevent electoral fraud.
He said the result sheets were also customised according to each polling unit.
Dr Tella, who assured the public that everything was in place to hold a free, fair and credible election in the state, urged all stakeholders to embrace and promote peace.
