President Buhari congratulates Ekiti Governor-elect Oyebanji

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Governor-elect in Saturday’s Ekiti State gubernatorial election and APC candidate for the post, Biodun Oyebanji.

President Buhari said the victory was well-deserved, considering Mr Oyebanji’s contributions to the development of the state and the party, before his nomination as the standard-bearer.

He urged the governor-elect to be magnanimous in victory.

The President also rejoiced with the APC chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and the National Working Committee for the victory, the first under the tenure of the newly-elected executives of the party.

He described the election triumph as a “good beginning” for the team, saying that the APC “is getting stronger and more united”.

Delivering quality governance

President Buhari also said the APC victory in Ekiti was an indication of the confidence of Nigerians in the ability of the party to deliver quality governance to Nigerians.

He charged party members across and outside the country to see the win as a “good omen” for the 2023 general election, urging the party faithful to work assiduously to ensure victory in Osun State next month.

The real victors

Describing Saturday’s polls as smooth and transparent, President Buhari also felicitated with the people of Ekiti State, affirming that they “are the real victors” as they were able to freely choose their leader for the next four years.

He lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission and law enforcement agencies for the preparations put in place, urging them to keep the momentum for upcoming elections.
