The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has pledged consistent support to farmers for agricultural growth which in turn will provide job opportunities to Nigerians thereby eradicating poverty.
CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele made this known during an award presentation to the best farmers and microfinance bank in Ondo State by the board of agricultural credit guarantee scheme fund.
The award was in phases comprising the best microfinance bank, first, second, and third best farmers in Ondo state.
Mr Emefiele represented by the CBN Akure branch controller Alhaji Fatai Yusuf said the award was a reflection of words backed with actions, accountability and the fulfillment of the promise made to develop farming in Nigeria.



Also speaking on the occasion, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu represented by the senior special assistant on agriculture, pastor Akin Olotu noted the collaboration between the state government and CBN had helped in the establishment of modern farm settlements in the state.
The governor further said that over one hundred hectares of land had already been allocated for planting of crops such as cocoa, and palm trees and also to empower hundreds of direct and indirect staff.
The awards for the best farmer went to Mr. Idowu Ogunsoyin while Mr. Femi Eniola came second and Mrs Mulikat Akinujoye came third Lapo microfinance bank won the best agriculture-friendly bank of the year.
Speaking on behalf of the award winners, the best farmer in Ondo state Mr. Idowu Ogunsoyin thanked the CBN, microfinance banks, and the Ondo state government for the recognition
